Your data

Privacy

What we collect, why we need it, and what happens to it. In plain English.

Who we are

The VFX Football League is run by volunteer organisers. For anything about your data, email vflorganiser@gmail.com.

Team registration

Each season, teams register through the team portal.

Team contacts. We keep your name and email address so you can sign in and so we can reach you about the season.

Players. The team contact enters each player's full name, date of birth, nationality and position, and optionally a shirt number, height, preferred foot and a photo. We use these to register the squad and to set the team up on Sofascore, which runs the league's fixtures, results and statistics.

Before a squad is submitted, the team contact confirms that every player listed has agreed to this. If you're a player and you didn't agree, tell us and we'll take you off.

Free agents

Players looking for a team can join the free-agent pool. You sign in with your email address and give us your name, the positions you play, how often you can play, how competitive you like it, and optionally a phone number, your current and previous teams, and a few words about yourself.

Who sees it. Your profile is shown to the team contacts of this season's teams, so they can find players. Your email address and phone number are shown only to the teams that mark you as interested, and you can see which teams those are on your profile page. The organisers see everything. We use it only to help you find a team; we rely on your agreement, which you give when you join and can withdraw by deleting your profile.

When you join a team, that team's contact adds you to their squad, and from then on your details are handled like any other player's (above).

Control. You can edit your profile, take a break from the pool or delete your profile at any time until you've joined a team.

What ends up public

Player names, photos, dates of birth (or age), nationality, position, shirt number, height and preferred foot can appear publicly on Sofascore. Once there, they're also covered by Sofascore's own privacy policy. If you want something changed or removed from Sofascore, ask us and we'll take it up with them.

Why we're allowed to use it

Running the league is our legitimate interest, and it's what you'd expect when you join a league. Publishing on Sofascore relies on each player's agreement, confirmed by their team contact.

Who can see it

Only the organisers, and your own team's contact. Teams can't see each other's squads or photos. Photos are kept in private storage: there's no public link to them.

The portal's data, team logos and player photos are stored with Supabase, in their London data centre. Sign-in emails are sent through Resend. Neither uses the data for anything else.

How long we keep it

Player details, photos and free-agent profiles are deleted once the season is over and set up on Sofascore. Team contact details are kept while your team plays in the league; ask and we'll delete them sooner.

The rest of the site

  • Contact form. Messages go to our inbox through Web3Forms.
  • Tables and fixtures are live widgets from Sofascore, and the media page shows our Instagram feed through Behold. These load from those services, which may set their own cookies under their own policies.
  • This site itself uses no analytics or tracking cookies. If you sign in to the team portal, your browser stores the sign-in session so you stay signed in; signing out removes it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted: email vflorganiser@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
