Hello everyone and welcome to our first ever newsletter! Hopefully these will become more common over the season but for now we’d like to take this opportunity to catch up with what we’ve been up to since our latest posts and have a look at what we still have instore for the season!

Quiz night #1
In April we held our first ever quiz night!
ETC hosted the evening and the VFL provided
the beers and the pizzas for the night. Quizmaster duties fell to Ollie (
ILM) after Leigh
(
Sohonet) had written a fantastic quiz but could no longer make it.

The night introduced the new kids on the block,
Escape, to the rest of the league! Where they showed their mettle in the quiz and finished holding onto the Wooden spoon.
The quiz was tightly contested and some questions even required a VAR check to satisfy the quizzers that all the answers where indeed correct.
However run away winners where
Control Chaos, who netted themselves a brand new ball and a £50 bar tab at The Perseverance.
The Cup
Which brings us nicely onto the brand new competition that we have started this season.. The VFL CUP!
If for some reason you do not know what the VFL cup is yet then let me explain it;
This year teams inside and outside of the league will be playing in an 8 aside knockout competition.
Every round of the cup will be drawn randomly. The games will be played the same as league games with the exception that all draws must be decided via a penalty shootout as 1 team has to walk out winners.
19203–0Coffee & TV
In our first Cup game we had a win via forfeit!
1920 have been awarded a 3 nil victory over Coffee and TV as The Doppios could not field a full team of eligible players, however in order to not waste the pitch booking C&TV where able to call in ringers to play 1920 in a ‘friendly’ in which they won!
A win on the night for C&TV but a win on the books for 1920 as they progress to the next round!
Framestore0–3ILM Rebels
In our first cup game that was played..
ILM Rebels defeated Framestores Chancers 3 goals to nil.
It was an incredibly tight game, where both teams where level at half time, but aninspired ILM team talk led to some individual brilliance from VFL player of the season Hamish as he inspired the side to a victory!
POTM for this game was Hamsish for the victors and Isaac for the Chancers.
Sohonet0–3ETC
Its another cup game and its another forfeit..
This time the forfeit was at the hands of The Sohonet spiders who couldnt get the numbers for the match and as a result allowed Electric FC a buy into the next round.
One Of Us2–0MILK
Another tightly contested match with both teams fighting tooth and talons.
Owls had the advantage in the first half, but the second was more even with the momentum on Milks side. A wonder goal from Owen swung the tide of battle, and the reinvigorated owls sealed the deal with a penalty scored by Efthymios. Milk kept fighting until the last minute, with plenty of chances, but it was the Owls that took home the victory.
Owen took POTM for OOU with the crucial goal and Reuben took the POTM for Milk with a dangerous presence.
CS1–2DNEG
This game was back and forth between both sides, heading for stalemate and pens until DNEG scored a winner with 10 mins left on the clock and they head into the quarters.
POTM Tom Boyden for DNEG who scored the winner and what a goal it was, an absolutely delicous chip over Cinesite keeper and POTM for his side Frank Aidair
Control Chaos1–3Absolute
Absolute stormed into the lead in this all Division 2 cup clash, scoring 2 in the first half and not letting up after half time, scoring a third and securing their spot in the next round.
Control chaos would pit a fight back, but it was too little too late.
POTM for CC was their keeper Steven Lovell and for Absolute it was their starman Teddy
ILM2–2Escape
ILM Strormtroopers took on the Students Escape but they where the ones on the recieving end of a footballing lesson.
After falling behind the current champions brought the game back into equal footing and took the game into a penalty shootout, the very first of the cup!
And it was the deftly named Escape who avaided crashing out the cup and progress into the quarters!
Alex Ha secured POTM for ILM and for Escape the honour went to Benedi.
